Zarda or sweet rice is one of my most fav dishes.Its economical,easy to make and tastes wonderful:)So today i am sharing my version of Zarda with you.Hope you enjoy it as much as i do:)
Rice (basmati): 2 cups (Boil in water and add food color t it)
Sugar: As required (I have used 1 large cup)
milk: half small cup.
star anise: one
Cloves : 3-4
Ashrafi:As many as you want
Dry fruits (Almonds,pistachio,Cashew Nuts) chopped
Heat the oil,add the star anise and cloves to it.
Now add the sugar and water to make syrup.Wait till the mixture comes to a boil.Cook further for a min.Add the rice in the sugar syrup.Allow for the water to reduce.Than add the milk.Cook for another min.
Add the dry fruits, Ashrafi.Mix well.
Tightly close the lid of the pan.Reduce heat And cook for another 10-15 min.
- Before serving khoya can be added to the rice as well.
- Also don't forget to add khewra water before you put the rice on dum(i-e close the lid to cook on low flame for 10-15 min)
